Are you looking for an online computer science teacher who makes the subject click? Meet Sandra T., who teaches Computer Science at LEO School. She is a qualified secondary teacher with more than ten years of teaching experience, a love of coding and a talent for inspiring curiosity in her students.

We asked Sandra five questions about why she teaches, what she enjoys most and what she does outside the classroom. Here is what she told us.

Sandra holds a PGCE in Secondary Computer Science from Middlesex University, London, and a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. She has been teaching since 2014, and her first love in the classroom is simple: helping students prepare for the future.

What made Sandra want to be a teacher?

“I love helping, and what better way to help others than to aid in their preparation for the future. I like acquiring and sharing knowledge and I love to inspire curiosity in others. Witnessing a student's “Aha!” moment when they grasp a difficult concept makes my day.”

Why Computer Science? The Digital Literacy of Tomorrow

Sandra has loved computers since childhood. For her, they have always opened doors to unimaginable places, and she believes that is truer today than ever.

That belief runs through her lessons. A good online computer science teacher does not just explain code: they show students how computers think, so they can use that knowledge in the real world.

Her Experience as a Computer Science Teacher

Sandra has been teaching Computer Science since 2014. Over the years she has:

  • Taught Computer Science in secondary schools in the UK and Spain, to students from upper primary through to A Level

  • Led robotics clubs and worked as a form tutor

  • Coordinated PSHE in a secondary school

  • Taught coding in Scratch, JavaScript and Python to children, university students and adults changing careers

  • Worked with EAL and SEN pupils, giving her a deep understanding of personalised learning

This mix of classroom and online experience is what makes her a confident and flexible online computer science teacher.

Her Favourite Part of the Job: Watching Students Grow

Ask Sandra what she enjoys most, and it is not the subject, it is the students.

“I like conversing with students and getting their point of view and seeing how that might change or evolve throughout the learning process. I like seeing their minds open to new ideas, experiences and suggestions. I like to see them grow.”

Why Sandra Chose LEO School

Sandra found LEO School through an advert, visited the website and liked the school's goals. Meeting the team convinced her she was in the right place.

“I love the idea that any student, from anywhere in the world, can sit in one classroom with students from the opposite side of the world and complete a high standard education in the comfort of their home.”

That is exactly the idea behind LEO School: UK National Curriculum subjects with Cambridge Board exam qualifications, taught by qualified, experienced teachers to students around the world. Explore our Key Stage 3, IGCSE and A Level programmes.

Outside the Classroom: Salsa, Badminton and Travel

Away from the screen, Sandra dances salsa and other Latin dances semi-professionally. She also enjoys badminton, and she loves travelling the world to experience new cultures, cuisines and lifestyles. It is a good reminder that curiosity does not stop at the end of a lesson.
